About Me

Who Am I?

Hello and welcome to my website! As you may have guessed by scrolling through my pages – I am an Artist! I am also a mother, a teacher, a gardener, a DIYer, a student, and an adventurer. I wear a lot of different hats in my life and each of them adds to the person that is me. If I could boil down all that I am, I believe that I would be left with the title “Creator”. Everything I do has an element of creation. My mind is always working to create something that I envision – and I LOVE it!

What Inspires Me?

I have loved nature and animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the pacific northwest. A beautiful area filled with trees, mountains, flowers, ocean, animals, and of course – rain! I enjoyed playing outside, building forts, and catching wild animals. From gardner snakes, tadpoles, bunnies, dogs, horses, and possums – I caught and loved them all (at least until I had to release them back to nature). That wonder and fascination as a child – carried its way into my adulthood and inspires my soul to create! I strive to add a little bit of that inspiration and magic into each of my pieces.

What Materials Do You Use?

I actually use a lot of different materials, depending on my creative desire. For my paintings I mostly enjoy using acrylic paints. As a mother of 4 – I enjoy the speed at which they dry. This allows me to get the most painting done in the sometimes short sessions I can squeeze in. I also enjoy the versatility that comes with acrylics. I can use them to paint on anything including walls, canvas, hardboards, and metals. When choosing my acrylic paints, I strive to use the best quality available. My top choices in paint include Liquitex and Grumbacher.

When I sculpt – I usually create a wire and foil armature that sits as a base. Then on top of that armature I will use either an artist grade air dry clay (right now I enjoy using DAS and LaDoll) or CosClay. Both mediums have different aspects that I like and don’t like, so I will choose what material will best fit the project at hand. For my dragons I mostly stick to the CosClay. It is formulated to retain some plasticity, which allows them to be held! I also use artist grade Acrylics to paint and seal them!
